Is beauty skin deep? The answer is yes and no. It is a paradox, right? True beauty begins from the inside out. Do not you wish there was some form of “twisting the nose” and regain that soft skin you had as a child? Well, until someone comes up with the real “Fountain of Youth” we’re stuck with what we have. The best route to healthy skin is to take care of what you have. Sounds simple, right? The truth is that the skin takes a beating from the environment each day.
a Those are some of our favorite tips for keeping your skin fresh and healthy: 1. Stay hydrated and do it with lots of water! That does not mean soda, caffeine or any other liquid, even if it is low cal. Soda (even diet soda) has a high concentration of sodium. Sodium retains fluids. You need liquid to hydrate and cleanse your body free of toxins.
Make sure you are drinking at least 8 glasses a day! 2. Protect your skin from harmful ultraviolet (UV). A We all love the sun. We love being in it and we like to have a beautiful tan. The truth is that you can poison yourself with the sun too. UV rays cause skin cancer and if that were not bad enough to make your skin age faster than it should contribute to unsightly wrinkles. If you have to play in the sun, make sure you are using a proper sunscreen. Do not leave home without it! 3. Apply your sunscreen, even if only to make a quick trip to the grocery store. Yes, you can get harmful UV rays even while driving your car! 4. Keep the skin clean. Use a soft cloth and warm. The skin does not require washing. You will do more harm than good if you do. 5. Cells exfoliate dead skin every night. 6. Create your own face masks. Here are a couple of excellent masks that can be created with ingredients from your kitchen: the oatmeal mask: Mix oatmeal with skim milk and apply. Eggs: A raw egg yolk makes a excellent mask. Try adding a little honey to the egg yolk for a change of pace. Mayonnaise makes another terrible mask and leave your skin feeling very soft 7. Use an antioxidant cream. You are bombarded every day with environmental toxins that attack the surface of your skin. In fact most of the damage to the skin can be attributed to free radicals. When exposed to toxins like air pollution increases the production of free radicals. Apply an antioxidant cream to the skin before applying sunscreen. 8. The best cure for wrinkles is to not have them in the first place! If you’re like most of us, you ignored your mother when she tried to tell you to stay in the shade, standing up straight and stop squinting! 9. Stop shaving your legs and use hot wax. Much more gentle on the skin. 10. Mix one tablespoon of cognac, with a broken peach and apply to your face for twenty minutes and then rinse. What makes a great summer facial.
